Our ministries extend the work of the Catholic Church in one way or another. Whether enhancing weekly mass with music or visiting with those in need of our thoughts and prayers, ministry makes God's kingdom alive in our community today.
The Bible is God’s Word, and Jesus is the Word made Flesh. Just as Mary gave flesh to the Infant Christ, so too do readers give flesh to the Word Who is Christ. Lectors are his mouthpieces. Christ is present of course, regardless of the lector’s style, but the reality of His presence is strengthened and increased when Lectors proclaim the word with faith and skill.
Boys and girls in grades four through High School are invited to serve as Altar Servers at all Liturgies. Altar serving is one of the few ministries made available to the young people of our parish. It is a very important ministry and we encourage the young people to take part in it. Although the duties of the altar servers are many and varied, the most important responsibility of the altar server during Mass is to pray. Training sessions are held several times a year. If your child is interested in becoming an Altar Server, please contact the rectory during office hours.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
The Eucharistic Minister is an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, appointed by the Pastor to assist in the distribution of Holy Eucharist during Sunday Liturgy as well as to bring Holy Communion to those who are unable to come to the Table of our Lord. It is a sacred ministry because it is about bringing our Lord to His people.
Music Ministry aids this local parish in helping individuals to serve God with the gifts he has given them in music. We value this ministry because Colossians 3:16 shows us it is a ministry of God’s Word, to build up his church.
why music ministry?
-because music plays a critical role within God’s church, helping us let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly.
-because music ministry here is encouraged, developed and grown to help God’s people ‘Rejoice in the Lord’ and be filled with ‘an inexpressible and glorious joy (1 Peter 1:8)’.
-because music is such an important part of today's society. To reach this nation with the gospel, the music of the local church needs not to be a stumbling block to hearing the good news of Jesus, but rather a tool.
